RANCHI, the
capital of the state of Jharkhand
(which is endowed with rich iron ore and coal
deposits), is rapidly developing into an important industrial
centre in India. Famous for its natural scenic beauty in and
around and still unspoiled by modern commercialism.
Ranchi is located in the eastern part of
India, around 400 kms from Kolkata. Ranchi has very pleasant

Tagore Hill
The Tagore Hill is about 300 ft. high. As the hill
is associated with a history pertaining to Tagore
family, it is known as Tagore Hill. A number of books
are supposed to have been written by Rabindra Nath

named as Jaivik Udyaan is about 16km from Ranchi on the
Ranchi-Patna National Highway near Ormanjhi. It

Jagannathpur Temple &
Hill
It is situated about 10km.
from Ranchi
is another sight seeing
place. The old temple of lord Jagannath was built in
1691 in architectural style of Puri Temple stands like a
fort on the top of the hill. Its car/chariot festival
"Rath Yatra" held in the light part of Ashadhmas draws a big crowd
comprising of tribals and non-tribals. HEC Township
nearby is an added attraction to this site. |

Hundru Fall
This is about 45 k.m away from Ranchi Town. The
Swarnarekha river falls from a height of 320 feet making
a wonderful scene known as Hundru fall. Now converted
into Getalsood Dam with a Hydro-Electric project.

Center
This
is 23 kms from Ranchi is the Mutta Muggar Breeding
centre in Ormanjhi which took off with 3 Bihari muggars
(crocodiles) & 2 from Chennai. Today they account
for over fifty Nearby is the biological park replete
with valuable samples of wild-life.

Rajrappa
Rajrappa is about 78 km from Ranchi on
the way of Bokaro. It is a "Shakti Pith". It is situated on the confluence of
two rivers known as Damodar and Bhairvi (Bhera). There
are numbers of small and big temples in Rajrappa. It is
a famous pilgrim resort for the Hindu devotees mainly
from Bihar and West Bengal. The Chinnamastika Temple is
a very famous and a popular place of Hindu pilgrimage.
The temple is very old and its architectural design is
the same as that of other temples of Tantrik importance.
Though its antiquity is yet to be dated.

The
Temple is situated in the heart of the town. The temple
is very Beautiful constructed and has great attraction.
There is a good hall with proper stage in the campus of
the temple. There are standing shrines of Lord
Adinath, Lord Bahubali and samosaran of Lord Mahabira
along with many other shrines.

This is located on the way to Chakradharpur, near
about 70 k.m. from Ranchi. Situated amidst dense forests
Hirni has been favored by nature for scenic beauties.

Sita and Dassam Falls
Adjacent to
Jonha falls is Sita falls which can be seen at its best
early in the morning. Afternoons may best be saved for
the Dassam Falls (34 kms on Ranchi - Tata Road) where
river Kanchi falls from a height of 114 feet. Security
arrangements have been made by the Government.

About 156 kms. away from Ranchi, Netarhat
stands on a plateau of Chhotanagpur and is covered with
thick Virgin Forests, Barren Rocks and Verdant Hillocks
at an altitude of 3622 ft. above sea level. It is an
excellent health and holiday resort. The sunrise and sun
set views here are superb. An added attraction is the
Netarhat Residential School nearby. All weather motor
able road up to Netarhat facilitates the journey of the
tourists. "Nashpati" Gardens are unique all
over Jharkhand. Netarhat is also famous for rare

Baidyanathdham (Deoghar)
This is a very famous
Hindu pilgrimage centre. Situated on the eastern side of
Jharkhand, this township is very close to the Bengal
border. Visitors from all over visit this important
temple where the Kamana Linga of Lord Shiva is situated.
In the month of `shrawan' devotees come in las,
particularly on 'Mondays'. Many of these devotees come
walking after traversing a distance of some 100 k.m on
foot to pour the holy Ganga water on Kamana Linga picked
up from Sultanganj. Baidyanathdham is connected by rail.
The nearest station is Jasidih, which is 7 k.m away.
Regular bus service available from Ranchi and Patna..
From Bhagalpur this pilgrimage site is about 80 k.m.

Angrabadi, which accommodates the temples of Lord
Ganpati, Ram-Sita, Hanuman and Shiva. The Shankracharya
Swami Swarupanand Saraswati, having been captivated by
serene, placid and celestial beauty of Angrabadi
rechristened it as Amreshwar Dham.

Hazaribagh National Park
Hazaribagh National
Park, about 135 km from Ranchi is also a sanctuary
adorned with scenic beauties. The park has also the same
features as that of Betla to some extent. The park has
tigers, panthers, sambhars, spotted deer, bosons and a
number of mammalian faunas. There are some towers, which
the tourists use to behold the beasts. A canteen is also
there to cater. The park is approachable by all
weather-medalled Road.

Parasnath
About
190 Km from Ranchi, Parasnath (also known as samered
Shikhar), is the
highest hill of
Jharkhand , 4431 ft. above
from the sea level. It is the most sacred/adored
place of the Jaini's. It is believed that 20 out of 24
Teerthankars attained their nirvana there. Both
Swetambars and Digambar Jains have their temples there.

Jubilee Park
This is a replica of
the famous Brindavan Gardens of Mysore. This park is
spread in some 225 acres, dotted with flowerbeds and
illuminated fountains to add to the beautiful decor
maintained. A new Aqua Park & Disney Land has

Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary
Thick
forests spread in some 195 sq. k.m. makes the Dalma Wild
Life Sanctuary where one can find elephants, barking
deer’s, sloth bears, porcupines, leopards, tigers etc.

This is 13 k.m. from Jamshedpur. This is situated at the
foot of Dalma Hills.
